I think, I'm going to miss HCI and Nicholas, and the entire sabbatical class. ):
Day1: Day started quite badly.. Weather in the morning was COLD enough, yet the stupid bus driver was blasting away the air-cons. Argh... Then reached HCI, marked attendance, and went to our respective labs.... Li Yan and I were in the Biology lab. Have to form groups of 3, and Nicholas was willing to be with Li Yan and me! Hahaha, and I think without him, Li Yan and I would be completely lost, not having any clues at what we were supposed to, and what we were doing. We made the agar plates btw, hahah. Smells like chicken stock? =.-" And and! We did Gram Staining, then we used the microscope! It Looks very nice!!!
Day2: In the morning immediately when I woke up, I complained to my mother that I didn't want to to go for the sabbatical. TAO YAN. But the day turned better (: Did more experiments! Shall not elaborate, because I kind of forgot xD And I was starting to fall in love with the experiments.. those biology stuff.
Day3: Yes, more experiments again. First thing in the morning, we checked results for the previous day experiments... Then we did.... gel electrophoresis!!! Because in AEM, we had a chance to load the DNA samples into the wells of the gel so we know how to, and the guys in the sabbatical did not know how to, I decided to take the "first big step" to help load one DNA sample into the second well. *proud of myself* (x [and they had this really small pippette tips!] We did TLC(thin layer chromatography) too, but it's with tea extracts.. green tea.. red tea.. white tea... oolong tea..... And then there's this disk diffusion thing we did.. with teas also.. !
commercial break: AHHHH! THEY NOW PLAYNG YI REN YI BAN !!It's on air!! Ahem, okay back to business.
Then we did Time Point Inhibition Tests too... Every 20 mins interval need to load the er.. bacteria? onto the petri dishes for one hour. Btw, these few experiments during the sabbatical, we used bacteria E.Coli and Micrococcus, and other stuff like tetracycline, ampicillin....
Day4: Checked results for the experiments we did the previous day again... Then we went to IBN Biopolis after that. We went to 3 different stations. The first one for my group is in a lab, about contact lenses. Some people need drugs for their eyes, but when they use that eyedrops that kind, most of the drugs would not be absorb into the eyes. So to solve that problem, they put the drugs onto the contact lenses, different patients different drugs! Cool right. The second station is in another lab, this time talking about what gel. I was trying not to laugh, because I don't understand what the guy was talking about. He had this japanese accent... and.. well.. I feel so bad... It's about this gel for patients (who have cancer??), and that they can be put into the body only through surgery. But to make things easier, they made the gel into solution, then all that have to be done was to inject the solution into the body, before he hardens inside. The third station... I have no idea what the lady was talking about... She has this another accent I don't know.. but.... I FEEL BAD ENOUGH OKAY?? We went back to school to work on our presentations.. All desktop and laptops were booked... so Nicholas, Li Yan and I went to the computer lab. SO BIG LA. Then Nicholas said cannnot use the computers to listen to music or watch videos. If the lab tecky(what they call her) found out, she will confiscate their ez-link cards and have to pay $10!! So gay rigghhhttt.
Day5: Sad day, cos last day! We had a quiz first thing, and surprisingly, I PASSED!! Nicholas told us to tickam, and he himself, I think he did tickam too, got the highest marks in the class! oh my~ He finished the test within 5 mins. =.=""" Then we had our presentations! Li Yan and I were so nervous...... AHH. Nicholas did a very good job! Everyone could tell he was very prepared for the presentation, and we both girls were very shocked at how well he presented the slides and answer the questions by the teacher and the "panel of judges". WOW. We clapped for him too! hhaha
After sabbatical, saw Bing Han and Jasper, before we made our way to Nanyang Girls for the Humanities Challenge. The slides nearly bore me to sleep, and the greenridge guys are SO RUDE.
Acting as our coffee, was the conversation between Li yan and me. We talked about the sabbatical, and become so emo because we would miss our............ everyone, and Li Yan starting singing songs that expresses our feelings really well. That girl ah.. somemore say what bla bla. BU SHI WO DE CUO! (not to be revealed (: )
